Curriculum Vitae
Cross-brand ONE Design System: rolled out a systemic dark mode across all brands, rebuilt the system into an agent-addressable platform, established design standards, rules and heuristics, and set up a role model for design operations. Involved in more than half of all hires while the team grew from 12 to 24. Cut brand enablement from roughly two months to one or two weeks. Stepping out of the leadership role was a deliberate choice: a team whose designers I already knew in part, and the chance to take the systems work deeper in substance. A good team counts for more than the next title.
Full line-management responsibility for product design, led through the acquisition by NortonLifeLock and the merger with Avast into Gen Digital. A tokenised, cross-brand design system across every product: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android native and React Native plus the product web services, fully transformed within two years. A federated contribution model with a quality gate run jointly with engineering, rather than dependence on one person. On that foundation, Norton's macOS product moved onto our technology within a few weeks, confirmed as on-brand in user testing. After the merger, Frontify was adopted group-wide and scaled up for Gen Digital. Owned design tooling: selection, procurement and budget planning, from annual licences to external development contracts, each with a business case taken to board level for approval. Design strategy directly with the CTO. On leaving the group, placed most of the team into new roles through the design leads of other units.
Three product initiatives for the MediaMarkt/Saturn ecosystem: the CECONOMY marketplace concept, a shared Family Account and the Vera event platform. Continued through the group subsidiary redblue Marketing to extend the collaboration beyond the term that applies to freelance engagements.
Design agency in Munich, founded with one partner and grown to four equal partners, up to seven people including freelancers at its peak. Responsible for pipeline, utilisation and client relationships.
University of Design, graduating as Diplom-Designer (FH). Systematic design as the foundation rather than a speciality, and with it the starting point for everything later called a design system.
Attended specific subjects that had been covered too briefly in Schwäbisch Gmünd. In the class of Hans “Nick” Roericht, who studied at the Ulm School of Design and carried its systematic approach into his teaching.
Certified alongside full-time employment.
